I am actually looking for a machine that will sew beta biothane (a leather looking plastic coated nylon material). The double thickness iw 5/16". I am looking for a used/refurbished machine that is easy to use (I know little about sewing and nothing about these types of machines) and will be able to handle a tough thick material and a strong thick thread. I am making horse tack - halters, bridles, etc.

I need help finding a machine - as well as determining the type of machine that would work best.

Please respond to marlene.moss@wcom.com

Thanks,
Marlene

Hi Marlene,

Look no further. I think I have the machine you need for your job. I am thinking of the Adler 105 cylinder machine. This machine is commonly used by saddlers and harness makers. U may want to check out our web site to have a look at the machine and if you send in some sample material we could run a test stitch for your approval.

Regards,

Erhard

If you have not as of yet found a suitable machine, you might give consideration to the
Tippmann Aerostitch, which is a single needle machine, with reverse, that is air operated. This machine will easily sew the Beta plastics as well as Bio-thane material
with thickness of up to 3/4 inch. It is a needle feed machine, which is one of the most positive of ways for material to feed thru a sewing machine. It will make stitches of from 4 up to 16 per inch. The speed can be regulated to sew as slow as
4 stitches per minute up to over 200 per minute. All that is needed to operate the machine is an air compressor capable of providing 90 to 100 PSI at a constant rate.
I have one of these machines in my own shop and operate it with a 5.5 hp compressor with a 25 gallon storage tank.
I will provide you with price information if you will contact me at rosaddlery@aol.com
